- Ability to be enthusiastic, flexible, and work cooperatively with students, parents, teachers and administrators
- Familiarity with, or ability to be trained in, a variety of interventions and instructional resources including Unique Learning System, Edmark, Orton-Gillingham, Touch Math, etc
- Willingness and commitment to include equity, social justice, and inclusion in all practices
- Knowledge of and accuracy in completing IEPs, present level statements, measurable goals and objectives, and documentation of progress toward goals and objectives
- Ability to develop and implement positive behavior support plans and the use of Restorative Practices
- Ability to teach organizational and social strategies to students to facilitate success in general education
- Ability to transform instruction through the creative use of technology
- Knowledge in instructional practices for varied learning styles and individual student needs across multiple grade levels
- Ability to provide specially designed instruction across multiple grade levels
- Strong background in using assessment and data to inform instruction and document student progress
- Successful classroom management strategies and skills
Education and Certification Requirements:
- All candidates must have a State of Michigan Special Education Teaching Certificate
