Travel *Up To $2,400/Week*

 

Connected Health Care is partnered with a facility located in Rapid City South Dakota in search of a travel cardiovascular operating room RN or certified surgical technologist. If you are a certified and experienced candidate, this may be the opportunity for you! 

Job Summary: A CVOR CST is a highly skilled healthcare professional who specializes in providing surgical assistance during cardiovascular procedures. Working in a fast-paced and specialized environment, they collaborate closely with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare team members to ensure the safe and efficient completion of cardiovascular surgeries.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Surgical Preparation:

    • Prepare the CVOR by ensuring all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are sterile and readily accessible.
    • Verify the functionality and proper setup of surgical instruments and equipment specific to cardiovascular procedures.
    • Assist in the positioning and prepping of patients for surgery.
  2. Assisting Surgical Team:

    • Hand sterile instruments and supplies to the surgeon during procedures.
    • Anticipate the surgeon's needs and provide instruments and sutures promptly.
    • Maintain a sterile field and ensure aseptic technique is adhered to throughout the surgery.
  3. Instrumentation and Equipment Management:

    • Set up and troubleshoot specialized equipment used in cardiovascular surgery, such as heart-lung machines and intra-aortic balloon pumps.
    • Handle delicate cardiovascular instruments with precision and care.
    • Safely dispose of used supplies and ensure proper handling of contaminated materials.
  4. Surgical Documentation:

    • Accurately document surgical procedures, including counts of sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery.
    • Record patient data, surgical findings, and other relevant information as required.
  5. Patient Safety:

    • Monitor patient vitals and assist in responding to any signs of distress or changes in condition.
    • Follow strict infection control protocols to minimize the risk of surgical site infections.
  6. Collaboration and Communication:

    • Collaborate effectively with the surgical team, including surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and perfusionists.
    • Maintain open communication to ensure seamless coordination during procedures.
  7. Emergency Preparedness:

    • Be prepared to assist in emergency situations during surgery.
    • Quickly respond to code situations and assist with life-saving measures when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) through an accredited program.
  • RN - Strong CVOR background.
  • RN license South Dakota. 
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • Specialized training or certification in Cardiovascular Surgical Technology is often required or preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of cardiovascular surgical procedures, instruments, and equipment.
  • Excellent sterile technique and aseptic practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced surgical environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
