Job Description:
As the Lead Microbiology MT/MLT, you will play a pivotal role in the laboratory's day-to-day operations, overseeing the Microbiology department and ensuring accurate and timely testing of specimens. You will collaborate with a skilled team of professionals to analyze and interpret data, maintain quality control standards, and contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory processes. Your expertise will be critical in assisting physicians with patient diagnosis and treatment plans.
Education + Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field for MT applicants
- Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology for MLT applicants
- Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is required
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate the Microbiology department's daily activities
- Conduct various laboratory tests, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established protocols
- Review and validate test results, promptly reporting critical findings
- Monitor quality control procedures and participate in performance improvement initiatives
- Train and mentor staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure proper specimen collection and handling
- Stay updated on industry advancements, best practices, and regulatory changes
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Microbiology (Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician)
- Strong knowledge of laboratory operations, instruments, and technologies
- Excellent attention to detail and critical thinking skills
- Effective communication and leadership abilities
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
