Job Description:
As the Lead Microbiology MT/MLT, you will play a vital role in overseeing and coordinating the Microbiology laboratory operations. Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting and supervising complex laboratory tests on patient specimens to provide timely and accurate results.
- Ensuring quality control procedures are adhered to and maintaining the highest standards of laboratory practices.
- Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, instrument malfunctions, and other problems in the Microbiology department.
- Leading a team of laboratory professionals, providing guidance, training, and mentorship.
- Collaborating with other departments to facilitate efficient patient care and contribute to interdepartmental projects.
Education + Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science or a related field for Medical Technologists.
- Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field for Medical Laboratory Technicians.
- Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) from a recognized accrediting agency (e.g., ASCP, AMT, AAB, etc.).
- Additional certifications or specialized training in Microbiology is highly desirable.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Microbiology testing within a clinical laboratory setting.
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience, with excellent team management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
- Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and information systems.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues and healthcare professionals.
