Medical Lab Scientist - Hematology - FT

Connected Health Care is searching for a seasoned Lab Supervisor to join our team in New London, CT. If you currently have leadership experience, or are looking to make the next step in your career, this could be great fit for you

Responsibilities
• Perform laboratory testing in a responsible, efficient, and accurate manner to ensure the reporting of proper results in a timely fashion
    o Follow established department procedures when performing testing 95% of the time, as observed by supervisors
    o Apply age-specific criteria in performance of duties, when appropriate
    o Make recommendations on how to enhance procedures
• Perform and document required quality control testing following established procedures, as observed by supervisors
    o Recommend changes to enhance QC procedures and policies, when appropriate
• Possess an understanding of the technical and medical basis of testing to ensure the proper communication and performance of lab tests
    o Explain the basic principles of laboratory tests they perform, as requested
    o Use understanding of testing principles to troubleshoot problems in testing due to reagent failure or interfering substances
• Demonstrate a professional attitude and approach to all areas of work, attempt to work well with others, and demonstrate a commitment to personal career growth in Medical Technology
    o Be ready to work at the start of assigned shifts
    o Accommodate unusual situations by coming in early or remaining late, even when overtime is not involved

Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology or equivalent with MT (ASCP) certification or equivalent or eligibility
• One to two years of experience in an accredited Clinical Laboratory preferred
• Working knowledge of equipment, instrumentation, and materials used in a Clinical Laboratory
