In your first few weeks in this Medical Laboratory Technician role, you can expect to:

• Conduct laboratory tests and analyses to provide data for diagnosis and treatment of patients
• Analyse body fluids, tissues, and other substances to determine chemical composition, cell count, and blood type
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring quality control procedures are followed, and prepare reports of laboratory findings.

The ideal candidate should possess an associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, although equivalent education and experience will be considered. They should also have certification or be eligible for certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Technologist through a recognized accreditation agency such as ASCP, AMT, or NCA.
