Travel Wound/Ostomy Pediatric RN – 8-Hour Day Shifts – Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Connected Health Care is partnering with a reputable healthcare facility in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to find a Travel Wound/Ostomy Pediatric RN for 8-hour day shifts. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced Wound/Ostomy nurses to provide specialized care for pediatric patients while working within a multidisciplinary team to manage complex wound and ostomy care.

Job Description:

  • Provide expert care for pediatric patients with wounds and ostomies, including assessment, treatment, and ongoing management.
  • Independently assess, manage, and treat various types of wounds and ostomies as per hospital policy.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to create, implement, and revise individualized care plans for pediatric patients.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in executing daily patient care and provide direction to staff regarding current wound care best practices and evidence-based approaches.
  • Perform regular wound assessments for conditions such as pressure injuries, surgical wounds, diaper rashes, skin tears, rashes, and ostomies.
  • Provide consultation on complex wound and ostomy cases, ensuring the highest level of care.
  • Educate patients and their families on wound and ostomy care techniques, as well as prevention strategies.
  • Document patient care activities, plans, and progress accurately in the EMR (Electronic Medical Record).
  • Ensure a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, integrating nursing, medical, and therapeutic services to optimize outcomes.

Education & Certification Requirements:

  • WI RN License or Compact RN License required.
  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
  • CWON (Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse) preferred, or WCC (Wound Care Certification) accepted.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Wound and Ostomy experience required.

Unit Specific Skillset:

  • Experience working as part of a Wound and Ostomy team in pediatric care.
  • Strong ability to independently assess and manage wounds and ostomies, applying evidence-based practices and policies.
  • Excellent communication and charting skills for accurate documentation and collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Ability to initiate, evaluate, and revise plans of care that reflect a multidisciplinary approach to care.
  • Proficiency in providing direction and instruction to staff regarding the application of current wound and ostomy care evidence.

Current Patient Ratio:

  • 4-5 consults per day.

Primary Cases/Procedure Types:

  • Pressure injuries, surgical wounds, diaper rash, ostomies, and other wounds such as skin tears, rashes, etc.
