Job Description
Perioperative Nurse Manager (Focus on Preop/PACU Leadership)
Reports to: Clinical Director of Nursing
Sign-on Bonus: $3,500.00
Main Function: As the Perioperative Nurse Manager, you will work under the guidance of the Clinical Director of Nursing and, during delegated periods, be responsible for implementing the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of the center. In the absence of the Clinical Director of Nursing, you will have the authority to make decisions in patient care, human resource management, and clinical financial management.
Duties, Responsibilities, Competencies: *This job description is tailored to the primary area of nursing, and as the Nurse Manager, you will also have additional responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Communicating the center's mission, vision, and values to all staff.
- Providing supervision, leadership, and guidance to other leaders and staff.
- Demonstrating staffing accountability through planning, assigning, and directing work of subordinate staff.
- Supporting the evaluation of performance objectives and metrics for the center.
- Creating a healthy work environment by modeling desired behaviors and encouraging others.
- Coping with and managing change effectively and assisting others in doing the same.
- Collaborating with other centers to address ongoing issues.
- Supporting fiscal accountability for center resources.
- Understanding regulations applicable to patient care and center functions.
- Participating in Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) programs and committees.
- Documenting all required reports in a timely manner.
- Maintaining assigned budget items: Hours in case, pharmaceutical expenses, and other areas.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- RN with an active license in the appropriate state.
- BLS/ACLS certification, PALS preferred.
- Evidence of leadership qualities.
- Strong ethical and moral character references.
- Language skills: adequate for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication in American English.
- Math Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply them to practical situations.
- Computer literacy including email, spreadsheet, and word processing.
- Ability to work variable hours and flex with the surgical schedule and staffing needs.
Preferred: 10. Bachelor's or master's degree in nursing.
- Healthcare-management experience, 1 year.
- ASC experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, TASKS, and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain current knowledge of infection control standards (AORN, APIC, AAMI, CDC, OSHA).
- Coordinate Infection Control Program with healthcare team.
- Analyze and present infection control data.
- Educate personnel and medical staff on infection control.
- Ensure compliance with Center Infection Control policies.
- Actively participate in annual education events on infection control.
- Perform annual Infection Control Risk Assessment.
- Complete annual CMS IC Worksheet for regulatory compliance.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
