Travel IMC RN – 12-Hour Day Shifts – Wausau, Wisconsin
Connected Health Care is partnering with a well-established healthcare facility in Wausau, Wisconsin to find a Travel IMC RN for 12-hour day shifts. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Intermediate Care Nurses to provide critical care in a high-acuity unit while working with a supportive healthcare team.
Job Description:
- Provide direct patient care in the Stepdown/Intermediate Care (IMC) unit, managing a variety of medical conditions and stabilizing patients.
- Care for patients who are stable but require closer monitoring, such as those on ventilators, tracheostomies, insulin drips, and patients recovering from trauma or surgery.
- Perform assessments, monitor patients' vitals, and administer medications as prescribed.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to implement patient care plans.
- Assist in the care of patients with conditions like sepsis, GI bleed, stroke, spinal cord injuries, orthopedic trauma, and chest tubes.
- Ensure patient safety, comfort, and timely care, while managing the fast-paced environment of the unit.
- Document patient interactions, care plans, and progress in the EPIC electronic health record system.
- Work independently, manage tasks effectively, and maintain a high standard of patient care in a busy, 36-bed Med-Surg Intermediate Care Unit.
Education & Certification Requirements:
- WI RN License required.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required.
- 2+ years of IMC, Stepdown, or PCU experience required.
- ICU experience preferred.
- Trauma Level II experience preferred.
- Ventilator and Tracheostomy care experience required.
- At least 1 prior travel assignment required.
- EPIC charting experience preferred.
Unit Information:
- 36-bed Med-Surg Intermediate Care Unit, with a patient ratio of 4:1.
- The unit cares for patients requiring heavy telemetry monitoring, stable, weaning patients from ventilators and trachs, as well as those with complex needs such as sepsis, alcohol detox, GI bleeding, spinal cord injuries, and more.
- The unit also manages patients on insulin drips, chest tubes, and those recovering from trauma and stroke.
