Sign Language Interpreter – Educational Services
Location: Chapel Hill, NC
Contract Length: 43 Weeks
Weekly Compensation: Up to $50/hr (Based on Experience)

Connected Health Care, a trusted recruitment and staffing firm specializing in Healthcare and Educational Services, is currently seeking a qualified Sign Language Interpreter to join our partner’s educational team near Chapel Hill, North Carolina. This role is perfect for professionals passionate about bridging communication gaps and supporting student success in an inclusive learning environment.

Job Description

  • Provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for students who are deaf or hard of hearing

  • Interpret classroom instruction, school events, meetings, and other educational settings

  • Collaborate with educators, support staff, and families to ensure effective communication

  • Support student engagement by accurately conveying spoken and signed messages

  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical interpreting standards

  • Adapt interpreting methods based on student needs and learning environments

  • Document services provided and contribute to IEP planning as appropriate

Education and Certification Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Valid certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)

  • Previous experience in an educational setting is highly desirable

  • Knowledge of Deaf culture and educational interpreting standards

  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
