Position: As-Needed School-Based Sign Language Interpreter (ASL)
Location:Â Ann Arbor, MI (48103)
Schedule: As needed (2-10 hours/week) – Flexible scheduling
Compensation:Â Up to $45/hr (W2 position)
Connected Health Care, a trusted education staffing agency, is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide on-demand support for K-12 students in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This role is perfect for an interpreter who values flexibility and wants to make an impact in an educational setting.
Job Duties:

Provide ASL interpretation services for deaf/hard-of-hearing students in classrooms, meetings, and school activities.

Facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, and peers while maintaining neutrality and confidentiality.

Adapt interpreting style to match student’s language level (e.g., SEE, PSE, or ASL).
-
Collaborate with teachers/staff to ensure access to curriculum and school environments.
-
Occasionally assist with note-taking or tutoring support if aligned with student’s IEP.
Requirements:

Michigan Educational Interpreter Certification (or equivalent credential, e.g., RID, NIC, EIPA 3.5+).

Experience working in school settings (preferred but not required).

Ability to interpret academic content accurately and adjust to grade-level needs.

Willingness to travel between schools in Ann Arbor as needed.
