JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Assembles and maintains case carts, ensuring adequate stock and managing inventory.
- Oversees quality assurance of items for sterilization and ensures proper sterilization.
- Utilizes Instrument Tracking System and Surgical Services Scheduling System (PIMS) as necessary.
- Assembles instrumentation for sterilization following the set/count instruction sheet. Inspects set for function, defects, cleanliness, and overall condition.
- Returns sterile supplies to the appropriate storage space. Keeps staff current with changes via the communication book/board and shift reports.
- Maintains supply levels of sterile stock which is prepared in CPD for the sterile storage/case cart assembly area. Responsible for the monitoring of all sterilization processes that affect the achievement of sterility the mechanical, chemical, and biological as well as procedures for equipment control and traceability.
- Performs decontamination procedures according to prescribed specifications. Disassembles instrumentation and processes equipment according to the IFU. Addresses damage of instrumentation upon arrival into decontamination area and reports to supervisor/manager for repair.
- An extensive understanding of the AAMI and OSHA standards is required.
- Assists in other areas of the department and performs all additional duties as determined by the hospital to be necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A high school diploma or equivalent. Vocational training in CPD preferred.
- License Certified Regular Central Service Tech required or Certified Sterile Processing required.
- 0-1 years of related work experienced required for Level I position, 1-3 years of related work experienced required for Level 2 position
- Must pass a Core Competency Test within 3 months of hire
