Job Description

Teacher of the Visually Impaired - York, PA

Contract Length: 36 weeks
Compensation: Up to $65/hr based on experience

Job Description:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for visually impaired students
  • Provide direct instruction in Braille, assistive technology, and other skills needed for academic success
  • Adapt classroom materials and teaching methods to meet the needs of visually impaired students
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support student learning
  • Conduct assessments to determine students' visual and functional vision needs
  • Offer guidance and training to school staff on best practices for supporting visually impaired students
  • Maintain accurate and thorough records of student progress and services provided

Education and Certification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education for the Visually Impaired or a related field
  • Current certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Pennsylvania
  • Proficiency in Braille and assistive technology for visually impaired students
  • Experience working with visually impaired students in a school setting is preferred
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to develop and implement effective teaching strategies for visually impaired students
