Travel - Infusion Therapy Registered Nurse
Job Description
The Outpatient Infusion Therapy Registered Nurse plays a vital role in the healthcare team, working closely with both internal and external staff to coordinate services, maintain quality care, and ensure continuity. The nurse is responsible for independently and collaboratively assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care provided to patients receiving oncology and infusion therapy.
Qualifications:
Education or Degree Required:

Graduate of an accredited nursing school or college; a Bachelor of Nursing is preferred but not required, or actively pursuing a Bachelor of Nursing degree.
License/Certification Required:
-
Current RN license in the state of Minnesota.
Other Qualifications:
Chemotherapy certification or eligibility to obtain certification.

Requirements:

Strong interpersonal skills that foster trust and safety in patient relationships.

Proficient computer skills and a commitment to staying current on oncology practices.
Tasks:

Performs initial assessments covering physical, psychological, educational, and social factors.

Accurately documents nursing care and ensures patient charts are complete and up to date.

Applies critical thinking and nursing judgment in patient care and decision-making.

Assists oncologists in patient treatment, follow-up exams, and addressing complex care issues.

Schedules and coordinates tests or procedures ordered by the physician, with follow-up on results.

Provides education and emotional support to patients, families, and caregivers, including referrals to support services.

Collaborates with the patient navigator to meet the holistic needs of oncology patients.

Demonstrates proficiency in chemotherapy protocols, medication regimens, and correct patient treatment procedures.
- Ensures proper equipment operation and collaborates with healthcare team members to ensure smooth treatment processes.
