Travel Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) – Cardiac Surgery - Wausau, WI

Connected Health Care is actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Travel RN First Assist (RNFA) for an exciting 13-week assignment in Wausau, WI. This position is ideal for a confident, dependable RNFA with strong CVOR experience, particularly in a Level II Trauma setting. Join a top-tier surgical team while experiencing the beauty and energy of north-central Wisconsin.

Assignment Details:

  • Contract Length: 13 Weeks

  • Shift: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM | 8-Hour Days

  • On-Call: 1 night per week, 3 weekends per month, plus 1 weekly backup. Occasional additional call may be required.

  • Weekend/Holiday: Weekend call + holiday rotation

  • Weekly Compensation: Up to $3,600/week (based on experience)

Job Description:

  • First assist in cardiac surgical procedures in a fast-paced CVOR environment

  • Maintain sterile field and anticipate surgeon’s needs throughout the procedure

  • Provide hands-on support during hemostasis, tissue retraction, and suturing

  • Collaborate with surgical team to ensure patient safety and successful outcomes

  • Accurately document intraoperative and post-op assessments

  • Adhere to Trauma Level II facility protocols and support emergency surgical care when required

  • Participate in on-call and weekend rotations as scheduled

Education & Certification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required

  • Active Registered Nurse license in Wisconsin (or compact license)

  • RNFA certification required

  • AHA BLS certification required

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in cardiac surgery (CVOR)

  • RNFA experience in a CVOR setting required

  • Prior trauma level II hospital experience required

  • Travel nursing experience required
