Local Travel IMC Registered Nurse – Wausau, WI

Connected Health Care is seeking an Intermediate Care (IMC) Registered Nurse for a 13-week local travel contractin Wausau, WI. If you are an experienced nurse looking for an exciting opportunity in a fast-paced environment, this is the perfect role for you!

Job Details

  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Start Date: 5/12/25
  • Shift Requirements: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Float Requirements: May float to all inpatient units as needed, typically higher acuity units
  • Weekend/Holiday Requirements: Every other weekend and holiday rotation
  • On-Call/Call-Back Requirements: Not applicable

Job Description

  • Provide patient-centered care in a 36-bed Med-Surg Intermediate Care unit.
  • Manage a 4:1 patient ratio while handling a variety of cases, including:
  • Ventilator/trach weaning
  • Sepsis, trauma, alcohol detox
  • GI bleeds, colostomy/ileostomy care
  • Chest tubes, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), orthopedic trauma, spinal cord injuries, and stroke patients
  • Heavy telemetry monitoring & insulin drips
  • Adapt to a fast-paced environment with frequent admissions and discharges.
  • Utilize EPIC charting (preferred).
  • Demonstrate strong critical thinking, adaptability, and time management skills.

    Education & Certification Requirements

  • Active WI RN License (or compact license) required.
  • BLS & ACLS certifications required.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience required (Stepdown/Intermediate/PCU experience required, ICU experience preferred).
  • Trauma Level II experience preferred.
  • Ventilator/trach experience required.
  • At least 1 prior travel assignment required.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • Adaptability in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment.
