Job Overview:
The Travel CT Technologist plays a critical role in providing high-quality CT scans to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Operating advanced CT equipment, this professional ensures accurate image acquisition while prioritizing patient safety, comfort, and adherence to established protocols. The Travel CT Technologist collaborates with healthcare teams, communicates effectively with patients, and maintains accurate documentation throughout the imaging process.

Responsibilities:

1. CT Imaging:

  • Perform CT scans on patients according to physician orders, adjusting equipment settings as required to achieve optimal images.
  • Position patients correctly and comfortably on the CT table to ensure accurate imaging and patient comfort.
  • Administer contrast agents when necessary for enhanced imaging, following established protocols and safety guidelines.

2. Equipment Operation:

  • Operate and calibrate CT equipment, ensuring it's in proper working condition before each procedure.
  • Monitor patients during scans to ensure their safety and comfort while inside the CT machine.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and notify appropriate personnel for maintenance or repairs.

3. Patient Care and Communication:

  • Explain the CT procedure to patients, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
  • Maintain a calm and reassuring demeanor to help patients feel comfortable during the scan.
  • Observe and assess patients for any adverse reactions to contrast agents and take appropriate actions if needed.

4. Radiation Safety:

  • Adhere to radiation safety protocols to minimize patient and staff exposure to ionizing radiation.
  • Use lead aprons, shields, and other protective measures as required to ensure safety.

5. Documentation and Recordkeeping:

  • Accurately record patient information, procedure details, and any contrast agents administered.
  • Maintain detailed records of each CT scan, ensuring proper documentation in the patient's medical records.

6. Quality Control and Assurance:

  • Participate in quality control measures, such as routine equipment checks, to ensure accurate and consistent image quality.
  • Recognize and rectify image artifacts or technical issues to ensure diagnostic accuracy.

7. Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate interpretation of CT images.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare teams to provide pertinent information regarding patient condition and scan results.

8. Compliance:

  • Adhere to all healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Follow facility policies and procedures to maintain a safe and compliant imaging environment.

9. Professional Development:

  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in CT imaging technology and techniques.
  • Pursue continuing education opportunities to enhance skills and maintain licensure or certification.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
  • Certification as a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) with advanced certification in CT.
  • State licensure or registration as required by the state of practice.
  • Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare teams.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to adapt to changing situations in a fast-paced environment.
